Sephora the well-known beauty store, that boasts a variety of products to meet all beauty needs now faces a law suit based on racial discrimination as of Tuesday, November 18th. The retailer was running a sale of a 20% off discount on all of its products which boosted a high volume of traffic to the site as customers wanted stock up on their favorite beauty supplies at a great price. The site reportedly crashed under all the traffic which it was unaccustomed too. Although A few Chinese/Asian plaintiff's claim that it was actual discrimination on the company's behalf for intentionally blocking them from accessing the site. The plaintiffs believe the site blocked them on the discriminatory belief that Asian/Chinese people will abuse sales by buying items in bulk only to resell. Sephora denies the accusations, claiming that their inability to access the site was due to the site not functioning because of the high traffic that occurred during the sale period. I wonder what evidence will unfold in court to prove either side of the story. I do believe that Sephora will prove sufficient evidence showing that access to their site was limited due to outages which occurred to the heavy traffic during the time period.
